ユビレジは、iPadでレジ打ちができるアプリだ。従来POSレジは業務用の専用機器をリースし、さらに導入コストや維持コストが掛かかることがほとんどである。ユビレジでは導入時のアプリは無料、月額利用料も5000円に抑えた。低コストながら入力した売り上げ情報をサーバに送り、一括管理できる仕組みまで用意している。

　言わずもがなだが、レジ打ちは店舗販売では欠かせないインフラだ。だが、今回支援を受けた大船渡市の居酒屋「北の味処ときしらず」の店長・新沼梢氏は「津波で流されたPOSレジもリースが残っていたが、リース業者に被害状況を説明しても考慮してもらえず、支払いは続いているんです」と話す。新しいPOSレジを導入すれば、二重に支払いが発生してしまうと悩んでいたところ、「ユビレジ」に出会ったというわけだ。
